NOTE: this is also how you would change the default font of many apps as they use the default Windows font. So I really just wanted to change the font of KEEPASS, but it doesnt have that option. So I had to change all of windows. I dont mind it because I like Consolas best.

UPDATE TO NOTE ABOVE: Thank to Jim Mills comment below, there actually is a way to change the font of Keepass – I was just blind and missed it: Go to Options, interface, (select list font|select password font) buttons.

STEPS TO CHANGE

Press WINDOWS+R -> regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows NT -> CurrentVersion -> FontSubstitutes

Now click on File->Export to backup the settings really quick. Save the file on the system. Anytime you want to revert just double click on that file and reboot the comptuer

1) Change values of “MS Shell Dlg” from “Microsoft Sans Serif” to “Consolas

1) Change values of “MS Shell Dlg 2” from “Tahoma” to “Consolas

Now exit out of regedit.

Now reboot the computer to take the changes (they will not work without restarting


Default Settings:

1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows NT -> CurrentVersion -> FontSubstitutes -> MS Shell Dlg = “Microsoft Sans Serif

2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows NT -> CurrentVersion -> FontSubstitutes -> MS Shell Dlg 2 = “Tahoma


New Settings:

1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows NT -> CurrentVersion -> FontSubstitutes -> MS Shell Dlg = “Consolas

2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows NT -> CurrentVersion -> FontSubstitutes -> MS Shell Dlg 2 = “Consolas

  1. I am not sure which version of keepass you are running, but there are font settings under options, interface, (select list font|select password font) buttons.
